New York City Street Fairs

Broadway between 96th and 110th

We have a street fair on Broadway once or twice a year, during which one or both lanes are closed to traffic. There are also smaller street fairs on single streets sponsored by block associations. Although some of those bear resemblance to garage sales, others are quite special; I am particularly fond of the one on 100th around Halloween time when farmers bring in their produce from upstate and there are games, llamas and pony rides for children.

We had some rain, so this fair did not draw as big a crowd as usual.

We also have farmers' markets around the city during the summer, when farmers set up stalls in selected areas, often on Fridays. The closest farmers' market in my neighborhood is at 97th between Amsterdam and Columbus where there is a very wide sidewalk.
