Once you get up the steps or hill from the greenway,
veer right after you go under the underpass. You'll come to 72nd and Riverside
Drive, where you'll see a sculpture of Eleanor Roosevelt, one of my favorite
people. Let's leave the park for a moment to see some terra cotta across
the street behind the sculpture shown here. |

Next door. Re-enter the park and go uptown (north), staying on the upper level.

Riverside Drive between 72nd and 79th streets

| This is looking back towards 72nd. When you come to 79th Street, you can either stay on the upper level next to Riverside Drive or go to the middle level. (Or, you can make a left and go to the Boat Basin Cafe.) We'll continue on Riverside Drive for now. |
You'll come to the Soldiers and Sailors Civil War
Monument at 89th and Riverside. You can take the steps next to the monument
to reach to the 91st Street Community Garden below, but we'll be there
soon on our current route. |

There is a list of military leaders and their campaigns
on several upright slabs like the one pictured beside the monument here. |

This statue of Jeanne d'Arc (Joan of Arc) is at 93rd Street
in the median between the two Riverside Drives. |

We'll turn around to explore the middle level of Riverside Park.

Enter the park from 95th Street and head downtown (south).
