Rockefeller
Center
and Fifth Avenue
Midtown Manhattan tour
Rockefeller Center is located between 48th and 51st Street,
Fifth Ave. to Sixth Avenue. It is home to NBC's television studios and
its annual Christmas tree, so you have probably seen pictures of it on
television. Consisting of 14 buildings, Rockefeller Center was built between
1931 and 1939 and provided thousands of jobs during the depression. |

The stairs are crowed with people who are waiting to skate.

They were about buffer the ice on a very warm day.

Elevators to the north and south take people to concourse
shops, where there is also access to various buildings and the subway. |

Mythological reliefs adorn the buildings.

There is sometimes music and a light show (left) during the holiday season.

Another approach is from the south. This is around midnight.

One last picture of Rockefeller Center. Can you
believe those are the same flagpoles and trees? I happened by one day
when the New York Police Department band was playing. They give a number
of concerts throughout the city every year, have played in Japan and
are heading for Canada soon. This particular concert took place 9/11
in 2006. |
