The New
York Public Library
and Bryant Park
40th-42nd Street, Fifth Ave. to Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue )

Two blocks west Grand Central Station is The New
York Public Library, New York's Main Research Library, built in 1911.
The entrance at 41st Street is graced by two lions, Patience and Fortitude. |

Restoration work is scheduled for the library. Take
a look inside at the beautifully painted vaulted ceilings and marble. |

Bryant Park is behind the library. In the winter months the lawn becomes a skating rink.

The spire in the back of the left photo is the Chrysler
building. Paths ringed by trees and flowers run the length of the park,
which has a meadow in the middle. The area is used for concerts and political
rallies, and in the winter is turned into an ice skating rink. |
