The Great Lawn extends from about 80th to 85th street.

The Arthur Ross Pinetum (84th-86th street) is northwest of the Great Lawn.

Near the Pinetum. Let's head across the Park to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Cleopatra's Needle from Thebes is near the museum,
so if you see it, head in that direction. The obelisk has inscriptions
on the sides. |

Statues of Alexander Hamilton and King Jagiello, a
medieval Polish king who battled the Teutons, are here. |

Arched gateway behind the Metropolitan Museum

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located inside
the Park from 80th to 84th and Fifth Avenue. It had scaffolding, but I
managed this shot of the north wing. |

Much of the area from 86th to 96th street is taken up
by the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, which is ringed by a pedestrian
path used by joggers and a bridle path. The two towers belong to the El
Dorado, a building at 90th and Central Park West. |

| The bridle path rings the Reservoir. Unfortunately, the Claremont Riding Stables, which rented the horses, closed recently. There's more park land to the west of the reservoir, while the east side is near the street (Fifth Ave.), so the remaining photos were shot from the west side. |

The rock outcrops, called Manhattan schist or Manhattan
mica schist, are 450 million years old. |
