You'll often see musicians in Central Park. I came across these people playing Early music this particular day.

Central Park weather observatory

Completed in 1872, Belvedere Castle originally overlooked the lower Croton Reservoir, which was filled in to create the Great Lawn in 1937. Belvedere is now a weather observatory where we get the readings from Central Park.

Central Park panoramas

This is where I got my Central Park map.

The Great Lawn concerts

The Great Lawn is where outdoor concerts are held. Sometimes 100,000 people showed up, but then the City started to limit the crowds to 50,000; it is about to raise it to 75,000 (2008). There are a lot of ball parks too. East Side buildings are in the background, Turtle Pond in the foreground.
