Central Park
Conservatory Water, Miniature Sailboats
73rd-75th street near Fifth Avenue

If you're coming from E. 72nd street, you'll soon
come to this fork in the road. Take the center road to get to Bethesda
Fountain and the Mall, or make a right (and then take a path that veers
right) to get to the Conservatory Water and Alice in Wonderland. |

If you take the left drive in the top photo for about
a block, you'll see this Mother Goose sculpture. |

This Pilgrim statue near the fork in the road's north side is close to Fifth Ave.

The Conservatory Water is just north of 72nd Street
off Fifth Avenue. It's about two blocks from Bethesda Fountain. Let's
head down the hill. |

We've gone to the other side and are facing Fifth
Avenue. That's Krebs Boathouse, where you can rent miniature sailboats.
The eagles Pale Male and his mate nest in a building across the way. |

We're in front of Krebs now.

This is where most of the action is, especially on weekends and holidays.

Refreshments and restrooms are available. There is
ample seating behind the fence. |

We're near the Hans Christian Andersen statue, and at
the end of the water to our left is Alice in Wonderland. We'll visit them
next. |
